Experts agree it will take years for New Orleans to completely recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina & Hurricane Rita. Many are wondering if New Orleans will ever be the same. There are some things that will change very little, such as: the French Quarter, Mardi Gras, and local industries like the oil refineries, shipping and travel. However, the Feng Shui energies of the buildings that must be rebuilt…will never be the same.
First and foremost in the recovery process is the removal of the toxins that soaked the city for days, before massive amounts of people are allowed to return to the area. Wide spread disease caused by toxins would only make a horrible disaster worse. You may already know that Feng Shui literally translates Wind Water, which is the first indication that clean air and water are of primary importance to good health. Protecting health always comes first in Feng Shui because money can’t buy good health.
One thing that shouldn’t remain the same is… that large parts of New Orleans are below sea level. In Feng Shui it’s never advisable to build on land that’s prone to natural disasters. The best option would be to raise the parts of the city that are below sea level before rebuilding, as Galveston did after the deadliest hurricane on record demolished that entire city in 1900.
It’s still important for New Orleans to make the necessary improvements to the levy system to protect the city in the future. However, it’s also time to acknowledge the affects of Global Warming on Earth’s overall weather patterns and begin to address the cause… rather than the affects.
A building can be re-built in every detail to the exact specification as it was before Hurricane Katrina destroyed it, but it won’t be the same. The Feng Shui energies of a building are created when the energy is captured under the roof and within the four walls. That means… even houses that weren’t completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, could have been opened-up sufficiently to change the overall Feng Shui energy blueprint within it.
Unless the house was originally built after February 4, 2004… the entire Feng Shui energy of the building will be different because it’s being rebuilt in a different time period. In other words, houses that had generally supportive Feng Shui energies could now create problem after problem for the occupants. On the other hand… houses that once prevented success could now bring the occupants great prosperity. In fact, all houses are divided into 5 Feng Shui House Types…

Some buildings in New Orleans will be re-designed… so they could be built Sitting & Facing toward different directions and/or have the entrances in entirely different directions. Beyond the fact that these buildings will also have new inherent energies throughout… the new directional aspect will influence the occupants in a unique way depending on each person’s gender and date of birth. From the moment of our birth we are uniquely influenced by the magnetic force of Earth. The devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina and the re-building of New Orleans will definitely change the future of the city… one way or the other. It’s far better and less expensive to address Feng Shui energies and influences in the planning stage, rather than fixing Feng Shui problems after the fact.
If such a disaster took place in Hong Kong or Mainland China, I guarantee the government would hire a Feng Shui Master for advice. Recently whole neighborhoods have been demolished in and around Beijing, to build the 2008 Olympic compounds to house the athletes. The Chinese government hired Master Sang, founder of The American Feng Shui Institute where I teach, to review the plans and make any necessary Feng Shui adjustments, before the projects began.
No matter what you believe… Feng Shui isn’t something you DO… it’s something you already HAVE.
